Apply for your library card online and save time!

If you are applying for a card at SSCHPL after having a card at another nearby community, you may be unable to apply online. In that case, visit us in person at the library with a government-issued ID with your current in-district address. If your ID has an old address, bring in a piece of mail with your current in-district address, too.

Teachers at schools located within the boundaries of the Steger-South Chicago Heights Public Library District are eligible to receive one-year library cards. To apply for a Teacher Library Card, bring your ID and proof of employment as a teacher at an eligible school and fill out an application at the library.

Library card holders at non-SWAN libraries in Illinois are eligible to become reciprocal borrowers and use our library as well. To get started, ensure you are in good standing with your home library, then visit us with your ID and local library card.
